BPX PWH-1 GC-2 & GC-3 Revamp and Module Installation
- Manhours Expended:
- BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc
- Prudhoe Bay, Alaska
- January 1990 – January 1991
This two phased project involved the revamp of existing and installation of new facilities to expand GC-2 and GC-3 Produced Water handling capabilities. Peak manpower levels exceeded 300 craft and staff while meeting CONAM’s goals for Alaska and native hire.
The extensive Phase 1 revamp included piping modifications and additions, new gas blower, new vent gas handling, and revamped four (4) water injection pump systems. Extensive pipe rack rack additions in high and hard to access areas required a 300T crane. Work was intricately coordinated and controlled to accommodate pre-shutdown and facility shutdown work restrictions and requirements.
Phase 2 work consisted of setting and interconnection of sea-lift modules, Alaska assembled piperacks, and built in place surge and skim tank skids. Work included pre-commissioning of all equipment and controls. Internally coated pipe was also repaired on site due to transportation damage.
