Port Clarence Airstrip Power Cable Replacement

Work consisted of the replacement of 9,000 lf of buried 1,400 volt electrical cable, installed in two (2) separate runs, to connect various facilities for power.
Roughly 1,000 lf of the cable ran beneath roads, runways, and parking areas requiring the installation of galvanized or PVC conduit. Burial depth was 18″ for cable and 24″ to 36″ for cable in conduit. The existing cable was removed and work also included revamp and/or replacement of various equipment items, panels and devices.
Transportation of material was by air and equipment was mobilized from Nome by landing craft.
